New Kochikame and Naruto titles will be released in Weekly Shonen Jump.

Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) will celebrate its 55th anniversary with its 33rd issue on sale on July 18. To commemorate the anniversary, the July 10 issue (No. 32) will feature a new Osamu Akimoto "KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops" story, and the No. 33 will feature a new Masashi Kishimoto "Naruto" story.
KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops Kibo no Chimneys 'Natsu'-1963: Kankichi-tachi no Natsuyasumi," a 46-page center color story by Akimoto, is the third in the "Chimneys of Hope" series focusing on an aspiring female singer named Lantern Kohzuki. The first episode in the series, "Chimneys of Hope" was published as an episode of "Kochikame" in the 18th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump in 2004, and the second series, "Chimneys of Hope - Hashima", which features her as the main character and is set on Hashima Island in Nagasaki, which is also known as Gunkanjima, Lantern's hometown, was published in December 2012. -The second installment of the series, "Chimneys of Hope: Hashima," was published in Shonen Jump NEXT! 2013 WINTER (Shueisha) in December 2012.


The story is set on Gunkanjima in the summer of 1963, when Ryosan, an elementary school student, visits the island with Chinkichi and Tohei. Benigetsudo appears as a classmate of Ryosan and his friends. It will be the first time in about 11 months since the August 8, 2022 release of the 36th and 37th issues of Weekly Shonen Jump that a "Kochikame" story will appear in the magazine.


Kishimoto wrote "Naruto Gaiden: Whirlwind in the Vortex," a 55-page center color story. The story is about Minato Namikaze, who won first place in "NARUTO's first global character popularity poll," "NARUTOP99. This will be Kishimoto's first new "Naruto" read-aloud in nearly seven years and three months, since "Naruto Gaiden: Filled Moon Illuminates the Road," which appeared in the April 25, 2016, Weekly Shonen Jump 21/22 combined issue.
