Netflix movie "Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura"
The Netflix movie "Hanma Baki vs. Kengan Ashura", a dream collaboration between the "Baki" series and "Kengan Ashura", will be exclusively distributed on Netflix from June 6, 2024. It has also been announced that a talk event will be held at LOFT9 Shibuya in Tokyo on July 26 to commemorate the distribution of "Kengan Ashura Season 2 Part.2".
The "Baki" series is a hugely popular fighting manga by Itagaki Keisuke, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Champion", with a total circulation of over 85 million copies. The story depicts the battles of various fighters, centering on the deadly battle between Hanma Baki and his father, Hanma Yujiro, who is known as the "strongest creature on earth".
"Kengan Ashura" is a battle action manga written by Sandrovich Yabako and illustrated by Daromeon, distributed on the web site "Ura Sunday" and the comic app "Manga One". The story follows the encounter of a businessman, Kazuo Yamashita, with a mysterious fighter, Ohma Tokita, and his involvement in the "Kengan Jiai," a competition in which fighters compete for corporate interests.
In 2020, the two works were featured in a collaborative art exhibition, as both anime series are distributed on Netflix. In the September 30, 2021 issue of Weekly Shonen Champion, a tribute manga to both works by Sandrovich Yabako and Daromeon was published, attracting attention. After a long time, the two pinnacles of fighting manga finally meet in "Hanma Baki vs. Kengan Ashura."
