“Hikaru no Go” will be staged in July

Ken Obata's "Hikaru no Go'' based on the original work by Yumi Hotta is adapted for the stage. The play, titled "Uta Emaki "Hikaru no Go'' Introductory Move'', will be performed at the Sunshine Theater in Tokyo from July 5th to 14th.

"Hikaru no Go'' is a coming-of-age story about Hikaru Shindo, a young boy possessed by the spirit of a genius Go player, Sasai Fujiwara, who steps into the world of Go and attempts to master "God's move.'' Cast information has also been announced, with Yoshiro Itokawa playing the role of Hikaru and Koji Konami playing the role of Saime, as well as Tou Akazawa playing the role of Akira Toya, Teru Ikuta playing the role of Akari Fujisaki, and Akiyu Hirose playing the role of Yukihiro Toya. . Other cast members will be announced in due course.

The production, screenplay, and lyrics are by Nobuhiro Mouri, who has worked on the musical "Black Butler'' and the stage play "Durarara!!''. The choreography and staging will be handled by Shinnosuke Motoyama, who has participated in musicals such as "Black Butler'', "Touken Ranbu'', and "The Prince of Tennis''. The music was composed by Shunsuke Wada, known for his work on the hyper-projection drama series "Haikyuu!!'', and Mitsuhiro Akiyama, who worked on stage design for the stage plays "Touken Ranbu'' and ``Yowamushi Pedal'', also participated. Tickets will be sold through an official lottery starting at noon on April 22nd.
