World Cosplay Summit 2023

The world's largest cosplay festival "World Cosplay Summit 2023" was held from August 4th to August 6th at Oasis 21, Hisaya-odoriPark, Aichi Arts Center, etc. centered on Sakae, Nagoya City. Among cosplayers gathered from 33 countries and regions, the British team was crowned as the grand champion, and 226,600 people were mobilized over the three days.
In this "World Cosplay Championship", representative cosplayers from countries and regions around the world dressed as characters from Japanese anime, manga, games, and tokusatsu participate in teams of two, and the level of perfection and performance of cosplay is evaluated. It's a competitive contest.
It has been held since 2005, and voice actor Toru Furuya served as chairman of the jury this year. In addition, Yuji Horii, the creator of the popular game "Dragon Quest" series, and last year's championship winners participated as judges.
Furthermore, on the eve of the 4th, at Oasis 21, more than 100 students from the art department of the Nagoya University of Arts performed anime and game music. , A ceremony was held in which Nagoya Mayor Takashi Kawamura and other guests walked the red carpet. Students from Nagoya University of Arts performed in cosplay as the Survey Corps from "Attack on Titan".

Various programs were held on the special stage of Oasis 21 with the theme of cosplay, and more than 400 people participated in the cosplay runway performance stage by general participants, the highest ever.
On the last day, August 6th, the grand finale was attended by the smiling faces of the representative cosplayers from each country and region who had finished the fierce battle at the "World Cosplay Championship" held the day before. Toru Furuya, chairman of the judging committee, took the podium and gave closing remarks on behalf of the organizer. The next World Cosplay Summit 2024 is scheduled to be held in August 2024.
