Kitaro's father and Mizuki on the cover of anan

Kitaro's father and Mizuki on the cover of anan

Kitaro's father and Mizuki, who appear in the anime movie "Kitaro's Birth: The Mystery of Gegege" based on the original work by Mizuki Shigeru, will be on the cover of the special edition of anan issue 2422 (Magazine House), to be released on November 13th.

Anan issue 2422 will feature a special feature on the "Trend Awards" that will take a look at this year's trends. "Kitaro's Birth: The Mystery of Gegege" recorded a total of 2.2 million viewers and was such a hit that it even led to the release of a "real version" that changed the ratings, making it a "trend movie of the year." The cover illustration was done by character designer Toru Yatabe. With the image of "What if Kitaro's father and Mizuki were photographed in a still photo shoot unique to anan?", the two were drawn looking at the camera. In keeping with the "star" feel that is fitting for the main characters of the movie, the two are wearing kimonos of different colors that are similar to those worn by actors in the Edo period off-duty. Kitaro's father is sitting cross-legged and Mizuki is resting his elbow on his shoulder.

The magazine also features a conversation between Seki Toshihiko, who plays Kitaro's father, and Kiuchi Hidenobu, who plays Mizuki, as well as interviews with director Koga Go and staff members Yatabe. For fans who have become interested in the film, the magazine also introduces Shigeru Mizuki's works, the Mizuki Shigeru Memorial Museum in Tottori, and the Gegege Memorial event to be held in Chofu City. There is also a cardboard pin-up page featuring the cover illustration and the characters standing.
