Live-action film "Cells at Work"

The cast of the live-action film "Cells at Work" based on the original work by Shimizu Akane has been announced. Nagano Mei will play the main character red blood cell, and Sato Takeru will play the white blood cell that protects the body together with the red blood cell.

This information was announced at the "Cells at Work" production presentation held on June 11th. Character visuals of Nagano and Sato dressed in their costumes were also unveiled. A special trailer that conveys the world of the film was also released. It features red blood cells full of hope, dreaming of the future, and cool white blood cells that instantly eliminate invading bacteria. Part of the story is included, such as the arrival of an unprecedented crisis in the human body where 37 trillion cells work, the launch of the Sneeze 1 rocket, and the confused scream of the red blood cell.

"Cells at Work" is a manga that anthropomorphizes cells such as white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. The story depicts the countless cells working in the human body growing and developing friendships and affection while fighting pathogens. It was serialized in Monthly Shonen Sirius (Kodansha) from 2015 to 2021. It was adapted into a TV anime in 2018 and 2021, and a stage play in 2018.
