Live-action version of "Oshi no Ko"

The live-action drama series "Oshi no Ko" based on the original work by Akasaka Aka and Yokoyari Mengo will be exclusively distributed worldwide on Prime Video from November 28th, with all 8 episodes, and the movie that follows will be released in theaters on December 20th. The teaser visual, trailer and staff have also been released.

"Oshi no Ko" is being made into a live-action film as a joint project between Amazon and Toei. In the live-action version, Sakurai Kaito will star as Aqua, who infiltrates the entertainment world to uncover the truth behind the death of her mother Ai. Saito Asuka will play Ai, the legendary idol with natural brilliance who is the undisputed center of the idol group B-Komachi; Saito Nagisa will play Ruby, Aqua's twin sister who dreams of becoming an idol like their late mother Ai; Hara Nanoka will play Arima Kana, who is famous as a genius child actor and will start her idol career with Ruby; Ano will play MEMcho, a popular YouTuber who works as an idol with Ruby and Kana; and Kayashima Mizuki will play Akane, a young and talented actress who has a crush on Aqua.

The teaser visual expresses the world of SNS, which changes rapidly every day and where lies, truth, and fiction are mixed together. Photos of the main characters, mainly Aqua, Ai, and Ruby, are scattered throughout the video, reminiscent of famous scenes from the original work.

The teaser video begins with a live scene of the original B-Komachi on stage surrounded by countless glow sticks. The dazzling sparkle of Ai catches your eye for just a moment, but Aqua, Ruby, Kana, MEMcho, Akane and others are shown on screen to the lyrical melody of "Ave Maria."

The director of the film has been decided to be director Smith, known for music videos of Ikimonogakari, Ketsumeishi, Snow Man and others, as well as dramas such as "I Want to Touch You, So I Want to Die." In addition to Smith, Matsumoto Kana, who has gained support for the film "Young People at Dawn" and the drama "Even If I Fall in Love with You," will also participate in the drama series as director. In addition, the script will be written by Kitagawa Ayako, who has worked on the dramas "Tokyo Love Story," "Takahashi-kun the Bicycle Shopkeeper," and the "Laid-Back Camp" series. Along with these announcements, a comment has arrived from Imoto Ryusuke, producer at Toei and the person in charge of launching this project.

Currently serialized in Weekly Young Jump (Shueisha), "Oshi no Ko" is a story that begins when an obstetrician and gynecologist, Goro, is reincarnated as the child of his "favorite" idol, Ai. The setting of being reincarnated as the child of the "favorite," the suspense surrounding the mysterious Ai, and the story depicting the behind-the-scenes of the entertainment world have made it popular, with the total number of published volumes exceeding 17.5 million. The TV anime, which aired in 2023, also became a hot topic due to the opening theme "Idol" written by YOASOBI. The work has attracted attention worldwide, and the production of the second season of the TV anime has been decided.
