It has been decided that the second season of the TV anime "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story", "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story: Kyoto Uprising", will be produced. It will be broadcast on Fuji TV's "Noitamina" and other stations in 2024. The original work of "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story" is a manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" by Watsuki Nobuhiro from 1994 to 1999, and is a monumental action period drama that has been adapted into various media mixes such as TV anime, movies, OVAs, games, live-action movies, and musicals. Set in early Meiji Japan, the story follows the wandering Himura Kenshin, a former "strongest swordsman" who shocked people in the late Edo period, who has strictly forbidden himself from killing people, as he throws himself into an unwanted battle with powerful enemies to protect his friends and people.

The anime, which began airing in October 2023, is a new TV anime series that reconstructs the original work from the first episode using the latest animation technology, aiming to create an anime "Rurouni Kenshin" that can appeal to current anime fans. It is fully supervised by the original author Watsuki, and the cast includes Saito Soma, Takahashi Rie, Koichi Makoto, Yashiro Taku, Onishi Saori, Uchida Yuuma, and Hino Satoshi.

This new information was announced at the "Jump Super Stage RED "Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story -" Stage" at "Jump Festa 2024" held on December 17th. Along with this, a promotional video announcing the second season and additional character visuals were also released. You can see Shishio Makoto, played by Furukawa Makoto, and Seta Sojiro, played by Yamashita Daiki.

In "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story: Kyoto Disturbance," Kenshin will no longer live a peaceful life at Kamiya Dojo, but will instead walk a difficult path confronting Shishio Makoto. With the setting moving from Tokyo, we hope to continue enjoying this increasingly exciting series.
