On June 18, 2024, Nintendo Co., Ltd.'s official X announced that the release date of the new "Super Mario" animated movie in Japan has been decided as April 24, 2026, and that they are working on the production with Illumination of the "Minions" series.

Nintendo will broadcast "Nintendo Direct 2024.6.18" (commonly known as "Nindai") on the Nintendo official YouTube channel from 23:00 on June 18. Information on Nintendo Switch software will be announced for about 40 minutes, mainly titles scheduled for release in the second half of 2024.
